Located in San Diego, California, Lyceum Prep is the First Middle School in the Nation to deliver academic curriculum based upon the core study of the Great Books, the Socratic Method, and Inquiry Based Learning. Traditional schools follow a very linear method of instruction, with segregated subject matter requiring minimal creativity. They assume all students learn the same, and do not allow any room for students to challenge the material they are being taught. At Lyceum Prep students are not only allowed, but also taught to challenge the curriculum to generate an opinion and develop it into an intellectual, moral, and aesthetic argument.
This year’s A Night of Excellence event was a great success! Complete with a dinner, speeches by Arch parents, a performance by the Arch Music Club, and a silent auction, The Arch Academy raised over $30,000 in donations!
The students are back after their Thanksgiving holiday, and we’re getting into Capitalist and Socialist economies, as well as parabolas, quadratic equations, and graphing.
